There is a hospital located in the nearby town of Boscobel, about a 15 minute drive from the residency. There is also an ambulance available along with first responders in the downtown area of Steuben, just 5 minutes away. The closest pharmacy is located in Boscobel. Staff will go over emergency medical protocol with residents during the first day orientation. A comprehensive first-aid kit and staff person will be available in the lodge 24 hours a day in case of a medical emergency. First-aid kits, fire extinguishers and land-lines are located throughout the rest of the residency property.
It is strongly recommended that residents are up to date on their Tetanus and Hepatitis A & B vaccinations. Residents with severe allergies should make staff aware and be sure to bring an Epi-pen or other medications that may be needed.
The following supplies will be available along with more comprehensive first-aid supplies, but we recommend you consider bringing your own:
- Pain Relief Medication (Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Tylenol, etc)
- Allergy Medication (Benadryl)
- Bug spray & bite relief
- Cold and Flu Medication
- Pepto Bismal
- Calamine Lotion
- Hydrocortisone Cream
Deer ticks are known to be in the area. We encourage you to check yourself for ticks regularly. If you find a tick on you, the on-call staff member can help remove it. More information about how to remove ticks and treatment after being bitten can be found here.
